Dr. Laura Engbretson is an OB/GYN, as well as a MYSP alum and parent. She has served on the MYSP board for several years and is dedicated to help the organization flourish because she thinks all students should have access to music education and performance opportunity. Dr. Engbretson played cello in the MYSP in high school and her 3 sons have participated in MYSP ensembles for the past 11 years.
Dr. Engbretson attended Huntingdon College for undergraduate studies and earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama in 2003. She completed her residency at Florida State University's OB/GYN Residency Program before returning to Memphis. She is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and was honored with the Louis C. Henry Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award from UT Ob/Gyn Residency. With a dedication to both her medical practice and community involvement, she continues to see patients through the Church Health Center and regularly participates in medical mission trips.
Outside of her medical career, Dr. Engbretson is an active member of the cello section in the Germantown Symphony, combining her love for music with her busy life as a mother of three. She enjoys running, cooking, and traveling in her spare time. Dr. Engbretson’s commitment to both healthcare and the arts is a testament to her belief in the importance of balance and giving back to the community.
