Nikkie Parker-Dunnewold is a MYSP alum and Music Educator with Memphis-Shelby County Schools. Nikkie has been part of the Board since 2022 and is currently president of the Bartlett Arts Council and a clarinetist in the Bartlett Community Concert Band. In June 2025, Nikkie was initiated as a member of the Memphis Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota International Women’s Music Fraternity.

Why music education is important to Nikkie:

“Music Education is important to me because for me, it was an outlet of expression in my middle and high school years, and I was fortunate to have wonderful band and orchestra directors who gave me the tools that helped me make MYSP, All-West, and All-State. I also feel like this aided in me receiving a full tuition scholarship to college where I earned a Degree in Music Education. I have taught Music in various facets for 26 years, and I provide students with the same opportunities as my teachers did when I was in school.”
