Jacob Saunders is a conductor, cellist, and music educator dedicated to inspiring the next generation of young musicians. A graduate of the University of Memphis with a degree in Music Education, Jacob was actively involved in the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music, performing with the University Orchestra, Chamber Strings, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and the Mighty Sound of the South Marching Band. During his studies, he also served as an instructor and mentor for programs such as Summer at the Scheidt Music Camp, University of Memphis Honor Band and Orchestra, and WTSBOA Solo and Ensemble.
Jacob has worked extensively with student ensembles across all levels, from elementary through high school. His teaching experiences include residencies at William H. Bruster Elementary and Collierville High School, where he led string orchestras and general music classes, as well as coaching students at TN All-State and All-West Honor Ensembles.
Originally from Southaven, Mississippi, Jacob is also an accomplished marching musician, serving two years as head drum major for the PRIDE of DeSoto Central High School Marching Band before joining the band’s instructional staff. With a background in both strings and winds, Jacob brings a versatile musicianship, strong communication skills, and an energetic teaching style to every ensemble he leads.
