Mari Kamikura is a Japanese flutist and arts administrator based in Memphis, TN. She maintains a private flute studio for beginner to intermediate-level students in the Mid-South area and has instructed flute students at both public and private high schools. She previously worked as a teaching artist fellow at the Memphis Music Initiative, bringing music education and mentorship to public middle school band programs. As a performer, she appears with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra as a substitute flute and piccolo. Beyond performing, Mari serves as the Operations Manager for PRIZM Ensemble and works as a Program Coordinator and Flute Instructor for the We Want Music! Foundation. She earned a bachelor’s degree in flute performance from Missouri State University and a master’s degree in flute performance from the University of Memphis. Her primary flute teachers include Elise Blatchford, Jill Heyboer, Hideki Nakajyo, and Michiko Kitahara.
