Sebastian Gaviria is a Colombian violinist currently pursuing his Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees at the University of Memphis under the guidance of Professor Timothy Shiu. He also serves as a string teaching artist and director of the chamber music group at The Arts Space in Place, and as a string assistant of the Memphis Youth Symphony Program, actively contributing to the Memphis music community.

A graduate of the Universidad de Antioquia, where he studied with Dr. Ana MarΓ­a Trujillo, Sebastian began his training at the Red de Escuelas de MΓΊsica de MedellΓ­n. Since 2012, he has been a member of Iberacademyβ€”an initiative promoting musical excellence and leadership in Latin Americaβ€”and has performed with major Colombian orchestras, including the FilarmΓ³nica de MedellΓ­n, FilarmΓ³nica de BogotΓ‘, and the SinfΓ³nica Nacional.

He has collaborated with ensembles such as the New World Symphony, Houston Symphony, and Musikkollegium Winterthur, performing under conductors like Michael Tilson Thomas, AndrΓ©s Orozco-Estrada, and Roberto GonzΓ‘lez-Monjas, and alongside soloists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Lang Lang, Emmanuel Ceysson and Johannes Moser, among others.
