Janaína Fernandes

Janaína Fernandes is a Brazilian violinist who is passionate about orchestral and chamber music, believing that music can be a powerful tool of transformation to impact individuals and communities on many levels. She has appeared as a soloist and Concertmaster with the Capital Philharmonia Orchestra, the University of Brasília String Orchestra, and the ArtBrasília Orchestra – all based in Brazil.
Janaína has performed in festivals in the U.S., Italy, and Brazil, including the Dalí String Quartet International Music Festival in Pennsylvania, Opera Barga Festival, and Festival de Música de Santa Catarina in Brazil. She earned her Masters of Music in Pedagogy from the University of Memphis, studying with Dr. Marcin Arendt, while serving as a Rebecca Webb Wilson Fellow with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. She also holds a Masters in Music Performance from the University of Wyoming, under Dr. John Fadial; and a Bachelors of Music from the University of Brasília, with violist Glêsse Collet.
Janaína performs regularly with both the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and the Billings Symphony Orchestra in Montana and is an active collaborator with Iris Collective. Outside of music, Janaína enjoys reading, solving puzzles, and crocheting. She is the founder of Fatto a Mano, a brand inspired by her love of crochet and the Italian language.
